How to easily choose the right inhaler using a patient-centric algorithm?

Prof. Didier Cataldo

The selection of an inhalation device is a key point in obstructive lung diseases because it impacts patient adherence, the drug’s effectiveness, and long–term outcomes.

Despite the abundance of effective treatment options, the achieved disease control in clinical practice often remains unsatisfactory.

In this presentation, Prof. Didier Cataldo will guide us through a novel patient-centric practical treatment tool, developed by Belgian experts, that allows a straightforward way of choosing the right inhaler for each patient.

The sound of the silent zone: small airway disease in asthma and COPD

Prof. Thérèse Lapperre

The importance of the peripheral airways in the pathophysiology of asthma and COPD has already been shown.

However, this so-called silent zone of the lung has been always difficult to access due to the lack of standardized methods of measurement.

In her presentation, Pr. Laperre will summarize the latest findings and advances in the assessment and treatment of small airways in Asthma and COPD.

Latest imaging data for inhaled therapies in Asthma and COPD

Prof. Omar Usmani

Given the importance of lung distribution in the efficacy of asthma and COPD treatments, it is vital to assess the deposition of the drug particles.

Several factors such as the choice of the device, the particle size, the patient’s adherence and inspiratory capacity, are important determinants of lung deposition.

Prof. Omar Usmani will share in his presentation the latest imaging data for inhaled therapies in asthma and COPD.
